The AAOS Orthopaedic In-Training Examination® (OITE®) is a proctored exam administered each year to U.S. orthopaedic residency programs – and many international programs – the second weekend in November.
The OITE is a comprehensive, multiple choice, computer-based examination designed to facilitate knowledge assessment in established principles and conventional procedures and treatment modalities in orthopaedic surgery.
The OITE serves to provide evidence of the orthopaedic surgeon’s scope of knowledge throughout their training in support of educational advancement. Since 1963, AAOS has developed the OITE to assess resident knowledge in ten primary content domains as defined by the OITE blueprint.
With an Institution ResStudy subscription, through your institution, you'll have access to nearly 3500 questions from AAOS self-assessment exams (SAEs), including exclusive content from selected Orthopaedic Knowledge Update (OKU) SAEs, Special Interest Exams, and Orthopaedic In-Training Examinations (OITEs).
Orthopaedic residency program directors and coordinators can order ResStudy for their orthopaedic residency programs by calling AAOS Customer Service at 1-800-626-6726 or email our Customer Service Team.
The Resident Orthopaedic Core Knowledge (ROCK) online learning platform currently is available to all US residency programs. Program directors and coordinators can use ROCK to easily assign content to their residents. Residents can find critical content that aligns with the OITE & ABOS Part I Examination. Get started today on the path to a successful career as an orthopaedic surgeon.
