Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, learners should be able to:
1. Understand the pathophysiology of musculoskeletal infections, including the pathogenesis, host immune response, and the impact of biofilm formation on infection persistence.
2. Learn evidence-based approaches to diagnosing musculoskeletal infections, including clinical evaluation, laboratory tests, imaging modalities, and the role of biopsy and culture techniques in confirming diagnosis.
3. Explore current treatment strategies for musculoskeletal infections, including antimicrobial therapy, surgical interventions such as debridement and implant removal, and the use of local antibiotic delivery systems and adjuvant therapies to optimize outcomes.
4. Develop proficiency in managing complications and challenges associated with musculoskeletal infections, as well as strategies for preventing recurrence and optimizing patient outcomes through interdisciplinary collaboration and patient-centered care.
