Course Director: Lisa Cannada, MD, FAAOS
Course Description:
Orthopaedic trauma care is influenced by a wide range of factors that extend beyond the injury itself. These include a patient’s access to resources, support systems, and overall environment, all of which can significantly affect treatment outcomes. This symposium will examine the challenges faced by patients with limited resources, highlight practical strategies for optimizing recovery, and explore how providers can better support patients throughout the continuum of care.
Learning Objectives:
• Recognize factors outside of the injury that can affect outcomes in orthopaedic trauma patients.
• Discuss strategies for addressing resource-related challenges during patient care.
• Develop approaches to improve recovery and long-term outcomes for patients with limited support or resources.
