  • Explain the most common reasons for revision total knee arthroplasty, including infection, aseptic loosening, instability, fracture, polyethylene wear, mechanical complications, extensor mechanism complications, and arthrofibrosis.
    • Review causes of failure, exposure and component removal, assessment of bone loss, component positioning, management of bone loss and implant fixation, ligament balancing, and wound closure.
    • Explain the concept of zonal fixation and its importance in the management of bone loss and implant fixation during revision total knee arthroplasty.
    • Describe extensile approaches, such as lateral release, collateral ligament evaluation, and tibial tubercle osteotomy, and discuss when to use these techniques for optimal exposure.
