Description
Hand and wrist soft tissue injuries in recreational and elite level athletes present unique challenges for the patient and surgeon. Although many of these injuries may be successfully managed in the average patient, athletes represent a high-risk population given their often-regimented timetable and desire to return to a high level of activity through their injured hand and wrist. In this webinar, we focus on some of the most common injuries to the tendons and ligaments of the hand and wrist faced by athletes. The goal will be for attendees to understand the unique treatment considerations in recreational and elite level athletes while also learning how to approach both conservative and operative management of these common injuries. This panel of national
experts in athletic injuries will also share their own personal tips and tricks to the management of these conditions, including those involving the ECU, thumb UCL, SL ligament, central slip, sagittal band, and TFCC structures. At the conclusion, attendees will be comfortable evaluating and treating athletes of all levels, while adding new techniques to their armamentarium.
Learning Objectives
1) Appropriately diagnose common tendon and ligament injuries in athletes
2) Recognize when advanced imaging is required to assist in diagnosis
