Description

The responsible prescribing and management of opioids remains a critical component of orthopedic practice. This CORE Opioid Education webinar will provide orthopedic surgeons with essential, evidence-based guidance on safe opioid prescribing, multimodal pain management strategies, and practical approaches to reducing opioid-related risks while effectively managing postoperative pain.

Through expert-led discussion and real-world clinical insights, faculty will review current best practices, evolving guidelines, and strategies for balancing effective pain control with responsible stewardship of opioid medications. This session is designed to support orthopedic surgeons in meeting the DEA educational requirements for opioid prescribing while strengthening clinical decision-making and improving patient safety.

Learning Objectives

  • Review current guidelines and regulatory considerations for opioid prescribing relevant to orthopedic practice.
  • Implement multimodal pain management strategies to optimize postoperative pain control while minimizing opioid exposure.
  • Identify risk factors for opioid misuse and strategies for mitigation, including patient screening and monitoring.
  • Apply evidence-based prescribing practices that support responsible opioid stewardship and improved patient outcomes.
