Webinar: Osteoporosis Fracture Care Counseling Coding

Webinar: Osteoporosis Fracture Care Counseling Coding

Tuesday, August 12, 2025 7:15 PM - 8:15 PM Central Standard Time

Online

This webinar is an AAOS member benefit!

Description

The importance of improving the delivery of osteoporosis bone health care and fracture prevention counseling to patients is clear. However, the time involved counseling patients has previously not been accounted for or reimbursed separately.

The Coding, Coverage and Reimbursement Committee (CCRC) and the Health Care Systems Committee (HCSC) have identified how to capture the work involved in these services and optimize reimbursement with the use of existing CPT codes, as well as improve delivery of osteoporosis bone health care and fracture prevention counseling.

Learning Objectives

This webinar will discuss optimizing reimbursement for osteoporosis counseling with CPT codes.

The aim of this coding method would align incentives for physicians to have explicit conversations with patients about osteoporosis care and to document those conversations as well as create a digital marker for patients felt to be at risk for future fractures.
